In a Manhattan federal courtroom on October 3, 2025, Sean “Diddy” Combs, the once-untouchable hip-hop mogul behind Bad Boy Records and hits that defined a generation, faced the music—literally and figuratively. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced the 55-year-old Combs to 50 months in prison, just over four years, plus a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.

This came three months after a jury acquitted him of the blockbuster charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking—offenses that could have locked him away for life—but convicted him on two lesser counts: transportation to engage in prostitution. For Combs, whose empire once glittered with Grammy wins, billionaire status, and celebrity bashes, it’s a stark comedown. The sentence, while severe, offers Combs a sliver of relief. He’s already spent 13 months behind bars at Brooklyn’s notoriously grim Metropolitan Detention Center since his September 16, 2024 arrest. That time counts toward his 50-month term, potentially shaving his effective stay to around three years, assuming good behavior. Combs, stoic during the hearing but emotional as family members delivered impact statements, apologized in court for his “disgusting, shameful, and sick” actions.
